DCS Montessori located in the City of Castle Pines on Castle Pines Parkway has approximately 470 students and has been serving the community since 1997 when the school opened. The school hired Consilium Design to provide site plan analysis of existing conditions and to provide a design for an outdoor learning center. A design for and “outdoor classroom” was created using existing topo and vegetation resulting in an intimate area designated for students to enjoy learning and being outdoors.

Global Village Academy an International Baccalaureate (IB) school that “aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.”
Consilium Design worked with Global Village to create a landscape that combined their goals of education with their need for recreation and outdoor educational elements. After polling the students and faculty on what elements would be most desirable Consilium came up with the following program elements to include.
- Rock Climbing Wall
- Outdoor Classroom
- Swing Set and Other Playground equipment
- Community Gardens
- Multi-Use Sport Courts
- Additional
Consilium Design then took these elements and came up with three concepts that included all or more of these elements, in order to help Global Village create an overall masterplan for future growth.
High Point Academy – Schools

Client: High Point Academy Charter School

The High Point Academy Charter School sits on a 5.8 AC site located within the High Point Development in Aurora, CO. Consilium Design provided site planning and landscape architectural services for this project. The estimated school opening date is mid-december 2010. The theme for the project is “sustainable prairie style” with a water-conserving landscape design.
